September 18th Weekend overview

Updated: Sep 18, 2022

Hey yall!! What did you do this weekend?

On Friday I came home from school and I came home and I was soooo tired so that I took a 15-minute nap and then I did some homework. After I did some homework I went down for dinner and then I watched some greys anatomy.

On Saturday I woke up at about 9:15 and then I went down to my kitchen and cut up an apple and I ate one of the banana muffins my Mum made. I also had a protein bar because I didn't feel like making eggs.

Then my Mum came back from the gym and we went to a place called Meals On Wheels. Meals On Wheels is a place that makes and delivers food to bedridden people. Being bedridden means that you may need a caregiver because you need to have a lot of rest and cannot cook for yourself or bathe yourself. Basically, it means that you need someone to help with day-to-day tasks that normally people can do on their own.

We went there and we packaged some food and brought it to this sweet 80-year-old woman she was bedridden and her name is Grace. Her caregiver's name was Elizabeth, it's funny because my middle name is Elizabeth.

Grace was so nice. She used to be a court translator, so translated Spanish to English and English to Spanish. She told us about some of the interesting cases she has translated and then we gave her her food and left.

My mom wanted to take me to Lululemon in lake forest and on the way we saw a sign for a garage sale. So we went to the garage sale and my mom look at it from the car and just said: "oh it's baby stuff, but you could look if you wanted". So I got out of the car and took a look around. I saw what I thought was a pair of pretty much brand-new skates. I asked the seller about them and she said, "well if they are your size you can just take them free of charge!" I tried on the skates and sure enough they were my size!! I took them and thanked the woman and went back to the car.

Mum and I drove to the Lululemon and I went in a looked around she said I could Pick something out and I saw a pair of cool leggings and I wanted them but I thought to myself well there are so many people in this world that cant even afford their own food do I really need this pair of leggings? So I walked out empty handed but happy beacause I had put good into the world by bringing Grace food and it came right back to me with the skates.

On the way home we dropped the skates of to be sharpened and get a punch out. A punch out is where they put indents on the inside of the skate where the ankle bone is to make them more comfortable. We went home and got ready all fancy because my Mum had a surprise to take me to.

On our way to the event we picked up my skates. Mum wouldn't tell me what the surprise was so when she put in the directions I looked up the place and it was just parking. So I looked up places near that parking and saw that the Cvic Oprah House was really close to there. Then I thought about the flyer that was on her table a few weeks ago and it was a flyer to a musical called Fiddler On the Roof. So I looked up when the opening night of that musical was and it was that night so thats how I figured out where we where going.

Now we just had to find a place to get dinner before the show starts. We walked around and found a seafood place and they didnt have much on the menu for me so Mum promised me she would take me for sushi after the show.

After dinner we went to the show and the show was so cool and entertaining! After the show as promised we found a sushi place that was still open and I ordered my normal, California rolls. They where so good and it hit the spot.

On the way home we got insomnia cookies I had no idea they had ice cream too! So I ordered a snickerdoodle cookie and a scoop of Superman ice cream and vanilla. They where soooo good!!

I figured out why the place is called insomnia cookies, its because they are open till 1am so when insomniacs get cravings at night they can go to insomnia cookies!

After all that we went home and I took a shower and went right to bed I was so tired.

Today, I woke up at 8:54am and I went downstairs and made waffles on my bubble waffle maker. I put sprinkles into the batter this time and the waffles turned out really good! Then I cleaned up and sprayed down the counter. I went downstairs and unfolded the laundry. After I finished the laundry I went upstairs and got ready. Then my mum picked me up to go to C-Teen. C-Teen is like the fun version of Hebrew school. We get to do stuff like nerf wars and snow cones and exploring the city, but everything we do somehow connects to a part of our Jewish heritage.

I left C-Teen early so I could go skating. The Ice rink is about a mile from where I was so I tried to run there so I could get there and have the full amount of free skate time on my new skates.

I got there about 10 minutes late and then I laced up my skates super quick and the rink was practically empty. There was only like 8 other people on the ice.

I went to pay for my ice time and the lady said it was 9 dollars! So I said "but I thought it was 8!" She looked at me and said "but your an adult so its 9". I explained that I was 13 and she refunded the dollar back to my card. I always wonder why people think I look so old!

I was a little afraid of stepping foot on the ice because I haven't skated in 3 years but I went and I was fine! I tried to do some speed skating and I was sit fine! Surprisingly, I could still do jumps and spins like I used to do!! I practiced untill 2:30 and then I took off my skates, cleaned the blades, put the soft covers on and my Mum came to pick me up.

Mum picked me up and dropped me off at home and she went to there grocery store. I unloaded the dishwasher and then I went upstairs and started my reading homework.

My reading homework is to read an article about praise. The article is called "Inverse Power Of Praise". It's one of those things you read and then you have to read it again to really understand it. So I read it twice and then went back and annotated through it. I actually thought it was really interesting! The article is about how if you over-praise kids for just doing what they are supposed to do or for success then they don't know how to deal with failure. Studies show that when you praise kids for succes to often and too general that they think that they then dont need to put effort towards harder tasks. The studies show that when you prauise kids by telling them "good job" or "your really smart" then they think that their "smarts" are innate. Innate means natural. So these kids think that they are born smart and that they can do anything with little effort.

Other studies showed that when you praise kids for there effort that they then know that they did a good job but that they can still improve and it gives them motivation to want to do better and try harder tasks to learn.

Anyways after I finished the reading and annotated my friend Austin came over and we hung out and then they left.

Right now it is 6:16 and I have been writing this since 5:12. My Mum just came i and told me to come down for dinner but I know that if I go down and eat then I will forget everything I was going to say and loose all my motivation that I need because I still have to Start my MOTH project for writing and I have to write 400 words for that and I still have no idea what to write about and so I thought while writing this post I might think of some ideas. I still have to grammar check this post. I literally hate grammar checking things soooo much omg I should just get grammarly lol 🤣✋💀.

Anyways here is a pic of a waffle I made but it turned out deformed......

Here is a pic of a funny short little convo I has while writing this. The group chat the pic is from is my cabin group chat of people that where in my cabin this summer at Camp Chi. They named the chat Habo & loves baked ziti.

Not really sure why it wont let me show the entire image but its ok.

I did a word count on this post through google docs and this post has a total of 1628 words! Wow, thats more than my wririting assignment is supposed to have! Well now I wrote an extra sentence so the word count is more but that was the count before this sentence.

Anyways thats all for todays post! I hope you guys enjoyed hearing about my weekend!
